You can get more traffic to your blog with a more original design. Not having the graphic design skills or tools should not hold you back from having a visually appealing blog. That’s where Blue Sky Design comes in. The masthead is usually the first thing a visitor to your blog sees. The more aesthetically appealing your blog is, the more people are likely to spend time exploring it. And let’s face it, the same ten Blogger templates get boring after awhile. If you’re looking for a way to set your blog apart, sign up to get a custom masthead.
What do I need to do to get a masthead?
Please see the Order a Masthead page. There's a tab for it right beneath the masthead.
How much is a masthead?
$10
Who is behind Blue Sky Design? My name is Carly. I’m a 20 year old college student who is trying to make a bit of money for school. I know that even if this endeavor becomes wildly successful, it won’t make even a dent in the amount of debt that I’ve accumulated over just two years, but I truly believe that every little bit helps. I am NOT a graphic designer. I am actually a science geek and self-taught design amateur who knows a bit about HTML/CSS, how to work Adobe Illustrator CS3, and how to make a quality masthead. To get an idea of the type of work I do, just go look at the portfolio. If you like it, we can definitely work together on creating an original masthead for your blog. If you don’t, go elsewhere. It’s that simple. I do not claim to be a professional and I think that’s reflected in the fact that I’m charging $10 per masthead, a very small price to pay to help enhance your blog.
Why do you ask for donations on your site?
Bloggers ask for donations on their site for various reasons. In my case, every penny I make from this site goes to one of two things – textbooks or tuition. Both are expensive. Hence, the donations button.
Do I have to credit Blue Sky Design for the masthead?
I happen to find those buttons giving credit to the designer very annoying when they’re in the masthead itself, so no, I’m not going to put a huge plug for my site on the masthead for your site. That would be tacky. However, it would be nice for you to either:
a. place a link to Blue Sky Design in your sidebar
b. write a quick thank you post about Blue Sky Design on your blog where you link back
c. add a message to the footer of your blog stating "Masthead created by Blue Sky Design, blueskymastheads.blogspot.com"Choose whichever of those options you find the most innocuous. I’m not trying to be obnoxious about the fact that I designed your masthead. A quick thank you, however, is not that much to ask. Also, if you have any blogger friends looking for a masthead, I’d love it if you’d direct them this way.
How do I pay?
Via PayPal. When your masthead is ready, I’ll send you an e-mail with a preview of your masthead so that you can tell me whether you like it or not. We can make changes together. You’ll receive instructions about how to pay as well as how to add your masthead to your blog.
